 Castle Family Health Centers has partnered with UC Berkeley's School of Optometry bringing to the community a wonderful opportunity of advanced state-of-the-art care and services. Students who work at Castle Family Health Centers are graduate students in their 4th year and final stages of post-graduate education who are about to graduate and become fully licensed Optometrists. Those who serve in our community as interns are supervised by a UC Berkeley-approved Optometrist. Each student spends 6 to 12 weeks at our facility viewing patients, assessing medical conditions with their final assessments reviewed and approved by the supervising Optometrist. All patients see both a student and the Optometrist during their visit.
Castle Family Health Centers has implemented advanced eyecare equipment and tools, including a Retinal Fundal Photography system that allows our medical professionals to catch problems with the eye, including advanced detection of diabetic symptoms in some cases.
